NEW ACCESS REGULATIONS AT THE TREVI FOUNTAIN
Limited Entry for a Better Experience
The Trevi Fountain is introducing a new visitation system designed to enhance the experience and reduce the overcrowding that has long been an issue. Access to the inner area (while the surrounding square remains open) will now be limited to 400 visitors at a time.
Currently, there is no entrance fee, but Mayor Gualtieri has indicated that the possibility of introducing one in the future is not ruled out. “The walkway installed during the recent maintenance work showed that both locals and tourists appreciated a more direct and enjoyable way to experience the fountain,” he stated.
This new system aims to preserve the beauty of the site while allowing visitors to fully appreciate one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks in a more relaxed setting.
New Rules for Visiting the Trevi Fountain
To ensure a more orderly flow of visitors, new access regulations have been introduced at the Trevi Fountain. Entry will be from the central staircase, while the exit will be through the designated passage on Via dei Crociferi.
Visiting hours:
Daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (last entry at 8:30 PM).
On Mondays and Fridays, opening will be delayed until 11:00 AM to allow for coin collection.
Every other Monday, the fountain will be accessible from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM to allow for basin drainage and cleaning.
After 9:00 PM, access will be open to all visitors without restrictions.
Dedicated staff will be present at the entrance, exit, and inside the monument to assist visitors and ensure security. The service is managed by Zètema Progetto Cultura.

No Sitting on the Fountain’s Edge
Visitors will be free to move around the designated areas while respecting a few key rules: sitting on the edge of the basin, eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited.
A new feature is the addition of informational panels and totems around the square, including a QR code that provides historical insights about the fountain.
